Lake Norman Golf Courses

In the Lake Norman area, just north of Charlotte, you have 3 true country club-type neighborhoods: The Point (Trump National) in Mooresville, The Peninsula in Cornelius, and River Run in Davidson. The Point and The Peninsula are also waterfront communities, so those would be your best bets for golf and lake living.

Some other great options for being inside a golf community on a more affordable scale (from a housing and membership perspective) are Northstone Country Club, Birkdale, Verdict Ridge, Cowan's Ford Country Club, Westport, Highland Creek, and Skybrook. All of these neighborhoods surround a golf course that may or may not be private.

South Charlotte Golf Courses

You have even more to choose from in the South Charlotte and Union County areas, such as TPC Piper Glen, Providence Country Club, Ballantyne Country Club, Quail Hollow, The Club at Longview (gated), and Firethorne.

From a more affordable standpoint, I'd recommend Olde Sycamore, Emerald LakeShannamara (The Divide), and The Palisades

Some other very popular golf courses and country clubs in the general South Charlotte area aren't necessarily situated inside a neighborhood but ones that you can still join or play on and live nearby. These would be Charlotte Country Club, Myers Park, Carmel Country Club, Cedarwood, and Pine Lake Country Club.

Lake Wylie area Golf Communities

Just south/southwest of Charlotte in the Fort Mill, Indian Land, and Lake Wylie areas of South Carolina (just over the border), you have a few more such as River Hills (gated and waterfront), Springfield, Sun City Carolina Lakes (active adult/55+), and Tega Cay.
